FAQs

Q: Who is the class suitable for?

A: People who have a physical and/or sensory disability who wish to practice Yoga with others in a similar situation.

Q: Can my carer come?

A: Yes of course, but you may find once you find your feet and are more confident they may not need to come.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: Try to bring your own mat if you can. People may want to bring a bottle of water.

Q: How much is the class?

A: The first 4 classes are free. If you decide to attend regularly the class is £2.50 per 2 hour class.

Q: Is the class safe if you are pregnant?

A: It is advised not to take up yoga in the first 14 weeks of a pregnancy, the body goes through such a miraculous change, and so it should be left to be able to do this task.

If you are practitioner of yoga and then become pregnant, it is advisable to not do heavy posture work but focus on the relaxation and breathing during this first part of the pregnancy.

Even after the first couple of months it is advised to visit a specialist yoga class for pregnant women, the class is slower with the emphasis on not over stretching. (During pregnancy extra hormones are released that make the body supple, over stretching can be detrimental to the ligaments and tendons).

Q: I have high blood pressure what are the health conditions that it isn’t good to practice Yoga with?

A: You can participate as long as your blood pressure is controlled. The tutor will need to know so that some postures and breathing can be adapted.
