The group has been running since 2003 when it started as a pilot project when a group of people with a range of abilities and mobility difficulties decided to learn about, and practice Yoga together.
The group had discovered that Yoga classes in the city at the time did not cater for their needs in terms of being during the day and being ‘disabled friendly’.
Working with the local Wheel of Yoga and a local Physiotherapist the group was established in July 2005 following help from South Liverpool Primary NHS Trust. This is now Liverpool Primary NHS trust.
The pilot group was such a success the group now run themselves and has been fortunate to receive a grant from the Merseyside Disability Federation (MDF) in 2005/2006 and Sport Relief last year (2007/2008).
There is no pressure, you do what is within your capabilities.
